Repair garage, 2 vehicles destroyed in Salisbury blaze

SALISBURY ---- A repair garage and two vehicles were destroyed and an auto mechanic escaped with a minor arm injury at a fire Friday that destroyed D&V Multi-Service Center on South Division Street.

Deangelo Maddox was emptying gasoline from a vehicle into a drip pan when heat from a nearby kerosene space heater ignited drifting vapor from the spent fuel, according to the office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal. The 49-year-old Maddox, with minor injuries to his left arm, was treated and released from Peninsula Regional Medical Center, the Fire Marshal's office said.
