Joan Seiler: Respect the man for the office he (still) holds

A stubborn segment of Americans really do believe the British are coming (or some other country), so they need all the assault weapons they can possibly acquire to save the nation. I thought we had the US Air Force, US Marine Corps, US Navy, US Army and US Coast Guard to protect our nation - none of which we had in 1776.

Seems the concerns were born when a black American was elected president. I keep up with politics, but never had heard of the tea party until Barack Obama was elected. I never heard any questions regarding birth location before - after all, John McCain wasn't born on the mainland.
