Reese S. Rickards: NRA represents a minority opinion, not the majority

One of the definitions of the word "minority" is: The smaller in number of two groups constituting a whole; specifically: a group having less than the number of votes necessary for control.

In the debate over sensible gun ownership, however, the National Rifle Association has become the (tiny) tail wagging the dog. NRA membership is slightly more than 4 million. The American population is 315 million, with a strong majority of us supporting elimination of weapons capable of mass killing.
