Improved infrastructure may encourage exercise

If our infrastructure was more bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly, more people might use those modes of transportation.

When gas prices are high - and yes, they are high, although not at a record peak - coupled with concerns about the environment and motor vehicle emissions, climate change and a need to exercise, here's an idea that stands out as a way to address all these concerns: Instead of hopping in the car for every trip or errand, when possible, try using people power by walking or riding a bicycle.

It's not all-or-nothing, but it sure makes sense if you are want to save money and exercise more.
