KIPTOPEKE - A proposal that would have slashed one-way Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel tolls to $5 for high-volume users was shelved at a bridge meeting Tuesday, although the issue of creating an even-lower commuter fare appears far from over.
John W. Salm III, the bridge-tunnel commission member from Northampton County, tried to bring to a vote a proposal to create a new rate of $5 for a one-way trip for passenger vehicles that make 30 trips in 30 days.
He also proposed reducing from $10 to $1 the per-trip rate for school buses. ...
