The fires are occurring with alarming regularity now in eastern Virginia.
In just the past week, the arsonist or arsonists have picked up the pace. There have been two fires nightly now for several nights in a row, scattered around the peninsula with seemingly no rhyme or reason.
Each fire in an abandoned structure carries an element of risk for the firefighters who respond. Each fire burdens taxpayers with untold public safety costs as investigators go about their business. And each one causes a bit of unease among residents in a peaceful, friendly piece of Virginia. ...
