Dressed in red and black, Derrick Hayward was primed to represent the University of Maryland.
It was in 2008 when as a 13-year-old, Hayward posed in a Terps basketball jersey with friends. Five years later, Hayward - now wearing a black and red jacket adorned with the school's logo - once again readied himself to represent Maryland as he signed his letter of intent to play football at College Park.
The Wicomico High School product chose the ACC and future Big 10 school over the likes of the Naval Academy, Boston College, Wake Forest and Rutgers. ...
