My wife, Loren, and I don't "do" Valentine's Day. It's the most Hallmark-y of the Hallmark holidays, and who wants to go out for a nice meal on a Thursday? There's "Vampire Diaries" on the CW and "Big Bang Theory" on the CBS. And we're too cheap to TiVo or Hopper, so there's no way to record both shows on the VCR.
We do, however, exchange cards, and even after 27 years together, I still try to surprise her with something special: sometimes a joke, sometimes a handmade card (which is my way of fighting the power of the greeting card industrial complex).
