Wearing a purple Baltimore Ravens jersey over his shirt and tie, Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan declared today to be Purple Friday in recognition of the team participating in football's championship spectacle.
About 25 members of local Ravens Roost fan clubs sporting Ravens jerseys, hats, socks and other purple accoutrements cheered the proclamation by the mayor at City Hall. Meehan congratulated the team for making it to Super Bowl XLVII. The Ravens will face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in New Orleans.
