WHITESVILLE-An historic Whitesville church burned Wednesday morning as church members looked on. Early reports suggest the fire was not the result of arson.
The fire was reported at Adams United Methodist Church on Lee Mont Road south of Parksley at about 8:45 a.m.
Firefighters from four companies battled stubborn flames in the belfrey and roof of the church for hours as parishioners watched. At one point church members joined hands in a circle to pray for firefighters' safety, led by their pastor, the Rev. Carl Perez. ...
