Documentary to explore history of illustration

Howard Pyle was a giant in the world of illustration, an art that received a great deal of attention in the 19th century.

Last year was certainly a banner year for the medium as well, topped off by the more than $1.5 billion earned in global box office receipts by the comic book adaption "The Avengers."

On Friday, Jan. 11, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society will explore Pyle's sizeable legacy with a special screening of the documentary "Howard Pyle and the Illustrated Story" as part of its Delmarva Roots series. ...
